BRANDING

Your library website is not only your online branch, it is also a marketing tool to promote your library in the community and encourage visits to your physical library. Your website should be seen as an integral part of the marketing mix that your library uses to communicate with the public. As a marketing tool, your website needs to reflect your library’s brand. The obvious ways in which this should be done would be to include your library’s logo and colors as part of the design. The fonts that you choose for your website should also be reflective of the fonts you use in your promotional materials. Be sure the tone of the writing on your website is similar to the tone you use in all of your messaging. If your library is very formal in its communications, use a similar tone on your website. If your library’s communications are usually more casual, have the writing for your website reflect that casual vibe. Visitors to your website should be able to immediately see the connection to the other communication pieces that your library produces.

Your website should be seen as an integral part of the marketing mix that your library uses to communicate with the public.
